            C

We are what we eat. That is an old expression, but one worth knowing. A recent look at diets around the world shows that people who eat healthy food — and not too much of it -- - live longer. But which areas ofthe world have best diets? Researchers found that foods in some of the healthiest diets — Mediterranean, New Nordic, Japanese and French — may be very different, but they are all heavy on local, seasonal and limit processed foods, which are high in vegetables and seafood and low in red meat.

Mediterranean diet contains lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and olive oil. The diet has proper amounts of fish and poultry (禽肉). Red meat and foods high in sugar and salt are not big parts of this diet.

New Nordic diet has whole grains like oats and rye, vegetables such as carrots, broccoli and eggs, seafood, fruits, oil, low-fat milk and cheese. Very sugary desserts are not common in this diet.

Japanese people are some of the longest-living people on the planet, with women up to 87 years old and men up to 80. The Japanese diet is the reason for such lengths of life. The diet has many foods that are low in calories and high in nutrients. Japanese people eat a lot of seaweed, tofu, rice, vegetables and fish. The tradition there is to stop eating when your stomach feels 80 percent full.

However, French people eat fatty foods but do not get fat. And they live a long time. This phenomenon is called the “French Paradox.” The reason why the French eat fatty foods without getting fat may be simple. They eat less. Serving sizes in French restaurants and in product sold in stores are smaller than those in most countries. And generally speaking, most French people do not snack. This means they do not eat food between meals.

            28. What do we know about the healthiest diets around the world?

            A. They contain abundant calories. B. They tend to be expensive.

            C. They share certain similarities, D. They reflect popular tastes.

            29. What is considered as a harmful eating habit in Japanese tradition?

            A. Going low in calories. B. Eating to the fullest.

            C. Having much seafood. D. Picking many foods.

            30. How does the author develop the central idea in the last 4 paragraphs?

            A. By building connections. B. By exploring reasons,

            C. By listing out examples. D, By analyzing figures.

            31. Which can be the most suitable title for the text?

            A. What is the healthiest diet on earth? ,

            B. How does the old expression serve?

            C. Why is a healthy diet so important?

            D. Where can we plant ourselves well?

            D

Google says it will no longer permit its artificial intelligence, or Al technology to be used in any activities involving weapons (武器).The policy was one of several new principles aimed at guiding the company’s development and sale of AI technology and tools.

The principles were announced after more than 4,000 Google employees signed a document calling for the company to cancel an AI agreement, known as Project Maven., with the U.S. Department of Defense.

Kirk Hanson is director of the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University in California. The center examines how ethics can be used as guidelines for technology development. He decided that the protest by Google employees against the U.S. military agreement was based on tears that AI technology could lead to the creation of weapons which might cause disasters to humans.

"If you have artificial intelligence which identifies targets and automatically launches (發(fā)射)weapons, you have an autonomous weapon. Just as with driverless vehicles, autonomous weapon systems may not be as safe as their supporters promise. We should be more concerned about how an autonomous weapon might make a mistake. Is that artificial intelligence targeting system as good as we think it is? And until we have trust that those systems will not make mistakes, we’re going to keep skeptical about the use of artificial intelligence."

A top Department of Defense official was asked about the use of autonomous weapons during an event last year at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. Air Force Gen. Paul J. Selva, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said such systems should never be used to replace human commanders.

Google chief Pjchai said the company'does not plan to stop providing A1 technology for all military uses. He said will still seek government projects in areas such as military training, Internet security and search and rescue.

            32. What new policy has Google announced about its AI technology?

            A. To expand its application fields.

            B. To absorb advanced technologies.

            C. To encourage its exchange activities.

            D. To restrict serving military purposes.

            33. The underlined word "ethics" (in Paragraph 3) probably means_.

            A. moral principles B. military challenges

            C. traditional virtues D. applied technologies

            34. What is Hanson's attitude to the AI technology for defense?

            A. Enthusiastic. B, Doubtful C. Positive. D. Confused.

            35. What can we infer about Google and the Department of Defense?

            A. They blame each other for the deal.

            B. They share the same concern about AI.

            C. No more deals will be possible between them.

D, They will continue to cooperate in other areas.#p#副標(biāo)題#e#
